38 New & Returning Shows to Entertain us this Summer

Well, someone must have heard my comment about summer being a TV waste land or they realize that with the state of the economy more people will be taking “stay-cations” this summer and in-home inexpensive entertainment is greatly needed.

They recently introduced 38 new and returning shows! That is the most shows I have ever seen programmed during the Summer TV season. Looks like we are going to have some tried and true great shows return like: Burn Notice, Leverage, Mad Men, The Closer, White Collar, Dark Blue, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Hawthorne and Entourage. As well as some of the lighter weight but still proven to be good shows at least for some: Lie to Me, Rescue Me, True Blood, Eureka, Psych, Royal Pains, Warehouse 13, Being Human (?),My Boys and The Secret Life of the Ameican Teenager.

Some of the new pilot shows they will test out on us this summer are: First in the lineup we have everyone’s favorites Cop shows (eeegads like we need more cop shows but some do look like they might be good); Rookie Blue and The Good Guys (watched it once… too silly and brainless for me) , The Glades which is about an Ex-Cop, Memphis Beat and Rizzoli & Isles (Angie Harmon plays a cop again and glad to see her back!)….oh and we get 1 new Spy show with a twist this time; we will get to see a rookie female operative in action, a political thriller called Rubicon which looks like it could make for an interesting show and another missing person’s type show which is called Missing Persons.

Next up is what could be this summers guilty little pleasures to watch: Pretty Little Liars, The Gates, Scoundrels, Louie, Hot in Cleveland (stars a trash talking pot smoking Betty White who is looking for a man!), Huge a show about fat kids at weight loss camp (hmm) and to round thinks off Neighbors from Hell an animated show about Satan and his Tortures. Ok…I will say it, what will they think of next!!! Good thing there is channel changer and a TV off button on my remote!

Another group of shows that make me cherish my TV remote is the group of reality shows that they role out once again this time of year and the new ones they are threatening us with. Returning is America’s Freak show, oh I mean America’s Got Talent which has already been on a few weeks, So You Think You Can Dance & Dance Your Ass off, they brought back Last Comic Standing, Shaq Vs, Big Brother, Dating in the Dark, Wipe Out and the madman in the kitchen MasterChief. New reality shows this summer are: Bachelor Pad and Ochocinco:The Ultimate Mate Catch (you can figure out what these are about) ,Choir a cross between Glee & American Idol and lastly DownFall is a quizz show where contestants answer questions on the top of a LA high rise!! so what are the consequences for the losers??

There you have it the good the, the bad and the ugly of this summers programming. Although I have to give the networks credit for presenting us with such a wide varity of TV entertainment this summer.

I would be interested in your reviews and comments after you preview some of these new shows. Which ones do you think will make it and which ones won’t?

Tuning out for now I am going to get off the sofa and go take a walk…~Lounge Lizzie
