Season premier of Burn Notice our favorite spy, his family & friends are back!

Published by loungeking on June 24th, 2011 - in TV Lounge Blog
I for one have been looking forward to the follow up on Micheal (Jeffery Donovan)  finally getting back in the CIA and once again becoming a Company man.  I am watching the show as I am writing this. It is not only interesting to see Micheal with a new swagger as an official spy but the season starts right off with the sexual tension between Fiona ( Gabrielle Anwar) and Micheal being satisfied, that is a new twist. I suspect even with those two major plot issues being resolved there is much more to come.  Hmm, Micheal just alluded to still having a unresolved agenda so there are still lose ends to be tied up.  Cool....Looks like  Micheal has found a way to keep his original team which is himself, Fiona and Sam (Bruce Campbell)  together on his first mission, Micheal's Mom (Sharon Gless) and cutie Jesse (Coby Bell)  are still present and I am sure we will see much more of them in episodes to come.  Got the usual amazing action scenes but oh no.....I can almost hear Mick Jagger singing I can't get no statisfaction......Micheal does not get the ultimate satisfaction he is looking for. The guy who burned him gets killed before he can get to him and get the info he has been seeking for the last 4 seasons...now what? Love the ending where the world  renowed bad ass spy needed to go home to lick his wounds and have a heart to heart talk with his Mom.   Well stay tuned this season and we will find out what is next .....thanks team for a great season premier episode!

Landmark Year for Daytime TV

Published by loungeking on June 20th, 2011 - in TV Lounge Blog
The Daytime Emmy Awards Show started off tonight addressing the fact that this is a landmark year for daytime TV. This is not a year of just a one or two major changes but many! Is daytime TV going to become a TV waste land of woman's only point of view talk shows, game shows and reality TV? No Regis to help us start our day or two long time soaps All My Children and One Live to Live to carry us through the afternoon with drama and characters that have become like family members and friends we like to visit daily till Oprah's show starts. And how can they possibly replace 25 years of Oprah and that level of quality TV in this afternoon time slot? Our farewell to Oprah is hello.....who? Lots of day time scheduling holes to fill...it will be real interesting to see what the networks do with it. What and who would you like to see on day time TV...that is if you even have the time to watch it! Lounge Lizzie

So, what do you think of the new network TV shows?

Published by loungeking on December 14th, 2010 - in TV Lounge Blog
We are 7 weeks into the Fall TV Season and a few shows have already bitten the dust. I think Fox’s LoneStar was canceled after the 3rd week which I was personally glad as the premise was ridiculous and it had no where to go  but gone.  Now I have not previewed or watched all of them but the ones that I have are not bad however the jury is  out whether they will make it or not. There are a few I hope will like  though like, The Defenders and Undercovers. I really like Detroit 1-8-7 with one of my favorite TV actors Christopher Moltisanti and understand it is doing  well. The only show they are calling a natural hit is Blue Bloods this is a show with real substance and great acting.  The two actors that make the show is Tom Selleck and Donnie Walhberg, just wondering why it is tucked away on Friday nights at 10:00 pm? Only cable show right now worth watching according to me:) is the Son’s of Anarchy…that is some gritty, heavy stuff but worth the watch…while waiting from some of my other favorite cable shows start their next season. Glee has been back on with new shows and is always fun to watch as is some of the other return shows like 30 Rock and Modern Families, The Office and Two an a Half Men but hey I think poor old Charley has crossed his TV role with his personal life and it is not working out to well for him.  Think he needs to retire his role and the show get in rehab and maybe make a show about that!   There is also a parade of new network comedy shows which look pretty iffy to me and OMG who is Donald Trumph paying off to continue is Apprentice Show!!!! Does any one watch that??? Hey, so what are you watching this season??? Stay tuned for more on this subject……..Lounge Lizzie

A couple of my top 5 fav Summer Seaon Shows are signing off this week

Published by loungeking on December 14th, 2010 - in TV Lounge Blog
A couple of my top 5 fav Summer Seaon Shows are signing off this week Burn Notice and Memphis Beat have given us a great ride this summer! Both TV shows aired their season finale this week. Burn Notice has been one of my top favorites for a while and from my opinion delivered this summer with good writing, story lines. twists, plots and lots of action ….oh yeah and an new character named Jessie that I hope will continue to be part of the team!  The only thing I did not like was that we were left hanging with the questions…will  Jessie be a friend or foe in the feature but more importantly will Michael Weston live on (he has too!) and who took the coded Bible and how does Fiona really feel about Jessie???  But a least they let us know we do not have to wait too long for new episodes as they will be coming back to answer these quesitons in November.   Soooo kind of them not to make us wait till next summer! But hey you can keep it going with the FB page till they come back:   Burn Notice Now one of my new favorite shows is Memphis Beat which is  also a new show this summer not one that has been on I just discovered.  I love Jason Lee as the lead character who is a great cop who has heart & soul, great “gut”  instincts” and sings some mean blues.  The story lines have been intriguing and the supporting cast is great and the music awesome…who does not love good ole Elvis songs and great Blues originating from Memphis Tennessee? Jason Lee’s name on the show is Dwight who is a complex character, is a major fan of Elvis, lives with his mother and sings/plays guitar in a band once a case is closed to down load the stress of the job and keep his creative juices going……yet he is  also an insightful perspective cop who bases his assumptions on facts and the human factor where he many times becomes the deciding  factor to the outcome for the people involved in the crime he is investigating.  To make things a little more intersting which the above could be enough he lives with his mother. He has an ex- wife and his father has died so why not live rent free with his mother and be there to help and protect her!  Well, the by line for USA and should be for TNT as well…characters welcome and Dwight is a welcome new character! If you did not catch the show this summer…check it out in reruns.   To  learn more about the show, check out the FB page for characters, story lines and the music:    Memphis Beat I am glad they are not ending all my top 5 fav’s on the same week…would not want to have to go into a TV recovery program to detox:) ~Lounge Lizzie

What’s Hot and what’s not on Summer TV

Published by loungeking on December 14th, 2010 - in TV Lounge Blog
According to TV guide reports the 3 hottest shows on TV right now are on USA Network. They are my 3 top favorite shows as well, Burn Notice, White Collar and Royal Pains. There is not doubt that a unique premise, the leading actor and a great supporting cast in each show is what makes them must see TV. A good general description of these shows and what keeps so many to tuning back in each week is what lead actor Mark Feurstein of Royal Pains states” There is nothing on TV quite like these shows. We get to be a little funny, a little serious, a little wacky and a little sexy.” I think USA Network has a formula for creating or airing hit shows that have all the above mentioned elements that make their shows very entertaining. Also, each show has a unique premise; Burn Notice is set in beautiful Miami Florida and is about a burned spy (CIA agent) named Michael Weston (Jeffery Donovan) who is trying to find out who burned him as he is helping poor innocent people who have gotten into trouble with bad guys. White Collar is about an very unlikely partnership between a con artist and an FBI agent where Peter Burke (Tim DeKaye) the FBI Agent has Neil Caffrey (Matt Bomer) the con artist help solve his cases. And Royal Pains is about a very good doctor Hank Lawson (Mark Feurstein) who was “burned” by the medical board of the hospital he worked at in New York. He then went to the awesomely beautiful Hampton’s to gain a clearer perspective and while vacationing there through a series of “things just kinda happened” events got hired as a Concierge Doctor for the very rich in that community by a extremely rich billionaire who has a rare decease. Dr. Hank not only is a doctor who makes house calls but plays the straight man to the comic relief on the show his tag along younger brother Evan Lawson played by Paulo Costanzo. The straight man/funny man routine, the aerial shots of the the Hampton’s, the bodacious Mansions and the interesting medical cases (ahla.. House) keep you coming back for more. I really think it all started with my very favorite but now in to re-run only status show “Monk” which had all those elements. Other shows with this formula and that are still going strong our Psych and Out of Plain Site. TNT (which may be part of USA…don’t really know) has a few shows that are hits because of this formula as well, The Closer, Leverage and the now in re-run only status Saving Grace. They have a new show that looks promising, Memphis Beat. Also, USA has a new show coming up about a female spy for those of us ladies that need female role model heroes. New shows that I previewed and personally find not so hot but have not as yet seen ratings on are: The Good Guys, Rookie Blue, Scoundrels and Gates. I do not think these shows will make it past this summers TV viewing. There are other new shows that I have heard on not doing well but have not previewed. But my thinking is one only has so much time for watching TV in a day or week if they still want their life to be the best on going not-to-be canceled show yet! Starting the week of July 12 the next wave of summer TV programming will start which is a summer season of new episodes of some the most popular returning shows. I am really looking forward to some new episodes on White Collar, The Closer, Psych and Warehouse 13 which is on the Syfy channel. So what do you think is Hot and is Not on TV this summer? ~ Lounge Lizzie

Brenda (Venessa Marcil) alert return date!

Published by loungeking on December 14th, 2010 - in TV Lounge Blog
This is to follow up on my previous post about Venessa Marcil returning to General Hopsital after way too long an absense. You may also remember her from the TV shows Beverly Hills, 90210 and the show Las Vegas. Return date is August 11. and there is not doubt she is returning to spice things up and improve the raings. If you are like me I do not have time to watch TV during the day so just another reasons to be thankful for Tivo and if you do not have a way to record the show their is always SoapNet that replays the show later in they day. Any other Brenda fans still out there?~ Lounge Lizzie

OMG! Old time GHer’s is it finally true that Vanessa Marcil will return to Port Charles!

Published by loungeking on December 14th, 2010 - in TV Lounge Blog
I can not tell you how many times I have seen Vanessa Marcil aka Brenda on the cover of Soap Magazines’ which leads you to believe that she was coming back to the show only to find out that was not the case…..at least yet. The other day I saw yet another Soap Digest with her on the cover and this type of headline and thought…just more of the same. Then as I was channel surfing I saw a clip on SoapNet of Vanessa Marcil walking back through the General Hospital doors standing there with a devilish little smile! I gave up watching this show a while ago but just may have to tune back in….. ~Lounge Lizzie
